Cryptocurrency payments firm Wirex has announced a significant expansion of its partnership with Visa which will allow the use of cryptocurrencies in 40 new countries. The partnership expansion is aimed at offering users seamless and efficient payment options, whether using fiat currency or cryptocurrencies.
“The agreement between Wirex and Visa includes becoming a member of Visa in APAC and the UK that will allow us to directly issue crypto-enabled debit and prepaid cards ourselves to over 40 countries,” Wirex said in a statement on its site.
Wirex offers a range of cryptocurrency services, including the ability to buy, sell, and exchange cryptocurrencies. It also offers a debit card that allows users to spend their cryptocurrencies at physical and online merchants. This collaboration will provide Wirex customers with the ability to use their cryptocurrency to make purchases at over 61 million merchants that accept Visa worldwide.
“It will also support further collaboration in major markets, including APAC, UK, Europe and the USA, by enabling Wirex to offer new innovative products to utilise crypto in the everyday, improve user-experience and pilot new blockchain initiatives,” the statement said.
The partnership is part of a growing trend in the financial industry towards embracing cryptocurrency payment solutions, with Visa leading the way in the development of these payment solutions.
The expansion of the partnership between Wirex and Visa will see Wirex’s services being made available in 40 new countries across the Asia-Pacific region, including Japan, South Korea, and Australia. This will significantly increase the availability of cryptocurrency payment solutions in these regions, providing consumers with greater choices and flexibility when it comes to making payments.
