Launch Inc, a livestreaming production company, has the honour of being the company to release the first-ever concert as a non-fungible token (NFT).
The NFT features a livestream concert of blues singer Ana Popovic and Grammy award winner guitarist Paul Nelson, performing live from The Music Room on March 13, 2021. This is a rare opportunity that allows the buyer to snag a raw master recording file of the concert.
Launch collaborated with independent live music venue The Music Room in order to make the livestream concert production possible, after the venue was forced to hold off its opening for over a year following the pandemic. Although the venue has plans to start hosting physical concerts again during this spring, this NFT auction is a turning point for the live music industry that was hit badly by the pandemic.
The auction is hosted on OpenSea and will end on April 18, 2021 at 1:23pm UTC+08. The winning bidder will be etched into the music history as the owner of the world’s first concert NFT.
Artists on Launch’s platform are able to do livestream performances on the platform, host past content for on-demand viewing, and earn from selling concerts and music as NFTs.
“NFTs are putting the power back into the hands of creators, which is in complete alignment with Launch’s commitment,” said Brian Stollery, CEO of Launch. “We’re proud to add NFT development, minting, and management to our suite of empowering services for artists around the globe.”
Launch is a staunch supporter of the live music and arts community, which can be seen with their business model that shares revenue with artists and also being the first music company in history to release a concert NFT.
