Indian rapper Raftaar is reportedly accepting payment in cryptocurrency for his upcoming performance in Canada. This makes him the first Indian artist to receive cryptocurrency as performance fee.
The upcoming performance in question is a one-hour virtual event in Ottawa, Canada. A private group of roughly 100 persons will be attending the event, scheduled for the second week of July.
I’ve always been an ardent admirer of blockchain technology. I’ve always wondered why artists and managers alike haven’t explored the potential of this disruptive medium. Nevertheless, I’ve finally taken the baby steps in this direction and all the credit goes to my manager, Ankit Khanna for making this dream a reality for me.

There is no information regarding the type of cryptocurrency that he will be paid in.
