In June, 137-year-old playing card manufacturer Bicycle purchased the non-fungible token (NFT) Bored Ape Yacht Club #1,227 — which will soon be featured in a classic Bicycle card deck in collaboration with parent company Cartamundi Group.
The Bored Ape NFT was sold to Bicycle for 103 ETH, trading for $1,858 per coin on the day of purchase.
“Bored Ape #1227 will also be featured on a classic Bicycle card deck launching next year. The deck will feature the brand’s new NFT in a fun, playful royal Ape-themed deck. The inaugural card deck will continue the journey within the Bored Ape Yacht Club community. More details will be revealed in the coming weeks,” the company announced.
Last year, Bicycle released the Genesis Collection, a set of futuristic playing cards designed by artist Adrian Valenzuela. The card company announced on Tuesday that the Main Genesis Collection is still available even though the Genesis Collection has already sold out.
Bicycle additionally stated that the company is celebrating its BAYC purchase this week at California-based NFT gallery Artcade. The event will feature Genesis Collection-themed and Bicycle Ape-branded items.
We see communities like the Bored Ape Yacht Club as the heart and soul of Web3. Bicycle is all about playfully connecting, and Web3 opens up new ways for us to interact and co-create with communities.
