The Houston Texans team of the National Football League (NFL) is the first team in the league to offer single-game suites for purchase in crypto.
The move is established as the result of the deal with BitWallet, a Texas-based crypto firm that became an official crypto wallet provider for the team on August 16.
The Houston Texans will be utilizing BitWallet’s intermediary service to exchange cryptocurrency for cash.
Houston Texans stated that local digital marketing agency EWR digital purchased the first single-game suite with crypto shortly after the launch of the offer — effectively making this the first time a game suite has been sold in exchange for digital currency in the history of sports.
It seems at this point in time, there is no mention of being able to buy regular game day tickets with digital assets, so the crypto deal is exclusive for suites.
A game suite is a luxury private viewing box in the stadium that is frequently filled with banquets, luxury class alcohol, restrooms, TVs, attendants, and a great vantage point to watch the game.
On its website, The Houston Texans require people to submit an inquiry to secure a suite rather than listing a price for single-game or full-season suites.
According to a representative of BitWallet, the price may go as high as $40,000. From The Seat estimated that the single game suite will cost between $14,000 to $25,000.
In addition to allowing users to trade or hodl Bitcoin (BTC), BitWallet claims to be supported in more than 160 countries. Over the next couple of months, the firm has plans to launch support for other cryptocurrencies, such as Ether (ETH), Dogecoin (DOGE), Litecoin (LTC), Shiba Inu (SHIB), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), and Tether (USDT).
