In advance of the city’s Grand Prix next week, Formula One (F1) team McLaren Racing has just debuted its crypto-themed racing vehicles during a Singapore-based event.
The effort is a part of an upcoming collaboration with the cryptocurrency exchange OKX. On the MCL36 F1 vehicles from McLaren, the livery will be visible at the Singapore and Japanese Grands Prix in 2022. This is the first time since 2019 that these events have been held in Asia.
The livery blends the dynamic, cyberpunk-inspired engine graphics and McLaren’s Fluro Papaya color schemes with bright pink accents. According to McLaren, the design symbolized the region’s growth of new technologies, including cryptocurrencies and the widescale Web3 space.
It was incredibly fun for us and McLaren to co-design the livery for Asia. This new livery signals the arrival of bold new technology. The cyberpunk design we created celebrates the influence of Web3 on popular culture.

In addition, OKX said it would help McLaren to reevaluate its approach to digital collectibles and the metaverse. McLaren announced it intended to establish an NFT platform on the blockchain of Tezos.
In another instance, the automotive division of McLaren Racing announced earlier this year that it would work with InfiniteWorld, a metaverse infrastructure platform, to design and mint NFTs of its extravagant supercars.
