With the support of digital asset marketplace Bakkt Holdings, fast food restaurant chain Quiznos will soon be accepting payments in Bitcoin.
Bakkt Holdings, LLC teamed up with Quiznos to launch its first physical location pilot which would allow customers to pay with Bitcoin. The pilot will start in mid-August at select locations such as the high-traffic Denver airport location.
Customers will be using the Bakkt App to purchase their meal with Bitcoin. Those who download the app, buy Bitcoin and use it to buy their next Quiznos meal will be rewarded with $15 worth of Bitcoin.
Sheela Zemlin, the Chief Revenue Officer at Bakkt, said that the partnership helps to deliver unique experiences to Quiznos customers by giving them new ways to use digital assets and making the use of Bitcoin more mainstream.
Partnering with an innovative platform such as Bakkt is appealing to us for a number of reasons, primarily because it allows us to accept bitcoin directly at the point of sale as part of a quick and seamless transaction.
Mark Lohmann, President of REGO Restaurant Group (parent company of Quiznos)
Zemlin added that they might potentially expand the partnership to additional Quiznos locations across the country.
