Celo, the mobile-first blockchain platform, has announced its partnership with Chainlink’s Scale program to provide access to oracle services for its ecosystem at a relatively low cost. The Scale program aims to accelerate the growth of blockchain and layer 2 ecosystems by giving them access to oracle services, which enable Web3 systems to access off-blockchain data that can be used in smart contracts.
With more than 1,000 projects in the Celo ecosystem, developers building on Celo can now leverage Chainlink’s oracle services to create highly scalable Web3 mobile applications. Xochitl Cazador, head of ecosystem growth at the Celo Foundation, stated that “our community’s goal in joining Chainlink Scale is long-term sustainability.”
The Celo community voted in March to allocate 5,980,314 CELO tokens to the node operators, who run the oracle infrastructure and fetch data to support Chainlink feeds on the Celo network for the next three years. The proposal received overwhelming support from the community, with 93 members voting yes and only three objecting.
Chainlink has been forming major partnerships lately for its Scale program. In February, StarkWare, a creator of layer 2 blockchain scaling systems, joined the program. The Chainlink ecosystem has been growing, supplying 960 data feeds and enabling $7.6 trillion worth of transactions since the start of 2022, according to data from its website.
The partnership between Celo and Chainlink’s Scale program is expected to fuel the growth of the Web3 mobile application industry by providing access to reliable and secure off-blockchain data. With the support of the Celo community and Chainlink’s oracle services, developers building on Celo can leverage the power of blockchain technology to create innovative solutions that meet the needs of their users.
