Blockchain gaming is well on its way to becoming one of the hottest trends in the industry this year as interest in this sector picks up. The Blockchain Gaming Alliance (BGA) is an organization which oversees the development of blockchain in the gaming industry and has seen the membership of several prominent names, such as Advanced Micro Devices, a CPU manufacturing juggernaut and now, it is welcoming blockchain tech firm Algorand to further blockchain gaming progress in the future.
“The gaming community has always been “ahead of the curve” when it comes to innovation and the adoption of new technologies like virtual reality, augmented reality and artificial intelligence and there’s a big opportunity to be had with using blockchain that has not yet been fully realized,” the announcement reads.
In fact, Algorand is wasting no time as a new member of the BGA as it was selected to record the ratings and titles of digital chess players on FIDE Online Arena. Millions of ratings will be made available real-time on the network where it is transparent and accessible across multiple chess platforms and communities worldwide.
Algorand plans to work on projects such as the creation of non-fungible tokens (NFTs), increasing network scalability, latency and efficiency for gaming, fostering a viable global gaming community, lowering costs and finding new channels for gamers, businesses, gaming content publishers and more to monetize their activities.
Gaming behemoth Atari announced its collaboration with Arkane Network in May to promote its Atari token to gaming developers and its community.
