The Aptos Foundation has unveiled plans to integrate Aave V3, the latest iteration of the Aave protocol, onto its Aptos mainnet. The Aptos Foundation aims to enhance liquidity and financial services accessibility through this strategic partnership with Aave DAO.
Currently in the “temperature check” phase, the proposal signifies an initial step in the governance process of Aave, involving community feedback gathering before advancing to a critical “snapshot” vote. Successful passage at this stage would escalate the proposal to an Aave Request for Comments (ARC), facilitating deeper discourse on asset parameters and implementation specifics. Eventually, the proposal would culminate in an official Aave Improvement Proposal (AIP) following rigorous testing and auditing procedures, as outlined by the Aptos Foundation.
Aave Labs has already taken proactive steps by developing integration code and deploying it onto the Aptos testnet. Concurrently, the Aptos Foundation is underwriting the current audit phase to ensure robust security measures are in place for the deployment. This collaborative effort underscores the commitment to operational excellence and reliability in integrating Aave V3 into the Aptos ecosystem.
The potential approval of this initiative by the Aave community would mark a groundbreaking milestone: the first-ever deployment of Aave on a non-Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) blockchain. This pioneering move is poised to unlock new opportunities for developers within Aptos’ innovative Move programming language-based environment, significantly expanding the accessibility and utility of decentralized finance (DeFi) solutions.
