Binance has declared the cessation of its card services in the European Economic Area (EEA). Effective immediately, Binance customers can continue to use their existing physical or virtual cards until December 20, 2023, 00:00 (UTC+0). The company assures that Binance account functionality will remain unaffected during this transition and extends its apologies for any inconvenience caused, Binance said in an announcement.
The company said that Binance account holders need not worry as the discontinuation of card services does not affect their accounts. However, holders of the Binance Visa Debit Card issued under the EEA program are advised to use their cards before December 20, 2023, 00:00 (UTC+0), as card purchases will be disabled thereafter.
Binance customers can continue using their Binance Visa Debit Cards issued under the EEA program until the specified deadline. The company recommends considering Binance Pay as an alternative—a contactless, borderless, and secure cryptocurrency payment technology. Binance Pay can be accessed from the Funding Wallet.
For users with recurring purchases and subscriptions linked to their Binance Visa Debit Cards, it is essential to register a different card with respective merchants and businesses to avoid unsuccessful transactions post the discontinuation date.
The discontinuation extends to all Binance Visa Debit Cards issued under the EEA program, including those catering to Ukraine Refugee Cards.
Cashback rewards for successful transactions will continue to be distributed as usual, unaffected by the card services discontinuation.
Users who have lost their cards can order replacement cards until December 6, 2023. They can spend funds from their Binance Card account as usual until the program’s closure on December 20, 2023. Delivery times may vary based on international and local postal services.
