The acceptance of digital payments by the Thai Customs Department has been enabled thanks to a partnership between Visa, the global leader in digital payments, and Digio, Thailand’s top provider of payment solutions.
Customers can now make quick, easy, and secure digital payments online or at a payment kiosk at the Thai Customs Department thanks to the initiative, which is the first digital payments enablement of a Thai government agency.
According to Pipavin Sodprasert, Country Manager for Visa Thailand, the company is eager to collaborate with Digio to increase the acceptance of digital payments in Thailand, particularly in the public sector.
Many Thai companies and retailers continue to use cash and checks, which is labor-intensive and inconvenient for both them and their clients. Converting from cash to digital payments is a huge opportunity in the B2B payment industry.
“Through our network and innovative solutions, we are transforming how business is conducted and are paving the way for the future growth of cross-border commerce,” said Pipavin.
Nopphorn Danchainam, Managing Director, Digio, said thatthe company is dedicated to redefining how business is done through cutting-edge payment solutions.
“We are thrilled to be collaborating with Visa to support the Thai Customs Department’s digital transformation journey. We anticipate that our digital payment platform will be useful to both consumers and businesses as the use of digital payments in Thailand grows,” Nopphorn added.
Digio, the first Business Payment Solution Provider for Visa in Thailand, powers the integrated online payment platform. By letting customers use their Visa commercial credit cards to make payments and transferring money right to the seller’s bank account, a Business Payment Solution Provider makes it easier for businesses to accept digital payments.
The Customs Department accepts payments made with Visa commercial credit cards. The use of corporate Visa cards offers users a number of extra advantages, such as the ability to extend payment dates and quicker processing of credit card settlements. The new online procedure reduces the amount of paperwork that businesses need to complete.
