Jay Graber, who used to be a software engineer for Zcash and Skuchain, will be leading the Bluesky project — a decentralized social media initiative by Twitter.
I’m excited to announce that I’ll be leading @bluesky, an initiative started by @Twitter to decentralize social media. Follow updates on Twitter and at https://t.co/Sg4MxK1zwl

Graber plans on hiring more personnel for the Bluesky team and working closely with Twitter and other companies in order to progress towards fulfilling the decentralized social media plan.
Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey said that appointing Graber as the lead of Bluesky would allow the project to progress on a faster rate and through code. Back in June, Dorsey stated his plan to integrate Bitcoin’s Lightning Network sidechain with one of his businesses. However, he did not specify if this was Bluesky.
The Bluesky project was announced back in December 2019 by Jack Dorsey himself. He said that Twitter would be funding a team that focuses on developing a decentralized standard for social media, and that Twitter would be a part of this standard.
Dorsey stated that the social media networks typically suffer from issues like “centralized enforcement of global policy to address abuse and misleading information.” This brings the focus to recommendation algorithms that direct users’ attention, and content that attracts outrage and controversy.
